At St Edward’s, we actively promote the core British Values that help our pupils grow into respectful, responsible citizens.
These values are:
- Democracy
- Rule of Law
- Individual Liberty
- Mutual Respect
- Tolerance
Democracy:
We teach pupils that every voice matters.
Pupils:
- Take part in debates and discussions
- Share ideas through school council and pupil voice
- Vote and make decisions together
We encourage confidence, listening, and respect for different opinions.
The Rule of Law
Pupils learn why rules matter and how they keep us safe.
We:
- Reinforce expectations daily
- Help pupils understand right and wrong
- Use restorative approaches to resolve issues
- Welcome visitors such as police and emergency services
Pupils understand both responsibility and consequences.
Individual Liberty
We support pupils to make safe, responsible choices.
This includes:
- Building confidence and independence
- Learning about rights and responsibilities
- Online safety and wellbeing
Pupils are encouraged to be themselves in a supportive environment.
Mutual respect and Tolerance
Respect is at the heart of our school.
We promote:
- Kindness and inclusion
- Understanding of different cultures and beliefs
- Confidence to challenge discrimination
Pupils learn to value differences and support one another.
Our core value of RESPECT ensures tolerance of those who have different faiths and beliefs. St Edward’s enhances pupils understanding of different faiths and beliefs through our curriculum where we ensure pupils learn about a wide variety of cultures and beliefs, through our work as an International School, by welcoming visitors from other schools that are not predominately white British and taking part in a faith visit to a place of worship.
