Our Vision

The Vision for Education at our academy

At St Edward’s we are commissioned (Matthew 28:19)i to celebrate, support and respect the talents and potential of all in our community. Here we are all journeying together in order to learn through faith, grow through hope and achieve through love (Corinthians 13:13) allowing all to live life in all its fullness. (John 10:10)

We are an avowedly Christian family where all are valued because we believe all are created in God’s image, all are sustained by God’s love and all are supported through God’s presence. Our Christian tradition affirms the lives we seek to influence, the futures we seek to secure and God’s kingdom which we seek to serve. It is also expressed and promoted in terms of how each member of the community flourishes in relationship with each other. We believe that St Edward’s makes people and people make St Edward’s. This inspires what the Academy is, what it does and what it aspires to be.

The deeply incarnational foundation for this vision will be seen explicitly in teaching and learning both in standards of Religious Education and across the curriculum, and also through Christian worship and our Academy ethos. We adhere to the overall educational vision the Church proffers which is mediated, theologically and pedagogically, through the elements of Wisdom, Hope, Community and Dignity.

This educational vision supports and sustains the common good of the whole human community and its environment, whether national, regional or local. We support how this vision is hospitable to diversity, respects freedom of religion and belief, and encourages others to contribute from the depths of their own traditions and understandings. We believe in how it invites collaboration, alliances, negotiation of differences, and the forming of new settlements in order to serve the flourishing of a healthily plural society and support the development of accepted British values.
