Creative Studies

The Creative Studies Department aims to create the opportunity for all students at Key Stage 2 and 3; to develop both their creative and practical skills in preparation for their next stage of education. Pupils are able to communicate their ideas and designs using a wide range of media and materials. Creative Studies consists of four subject areas: Graphics, Food Technology, Product Design and Art & Design. Pupils experience of all these subjects in a 10 week rotation.

The department also runs a residential trip for Year 6 pupils to Cornwall each year, which makes visits to:
• Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum
• Minack open air theatre
• Eden Project
• The Maritime museum
• Geevor Tin Mine
• Mark’s Ark

In Year 8 pupils are given the opportunity to visit the Tate Gallery in Liverpool as part of a combined trip with the Humanities Department.

Extra-Curricular Activities:
• Art Club and Product Design Club – These extra curricular activities are held every week during lunchtimes. All pupils are welcome and are given the opportunity to participate in different projects, or to use the time to complete or enhance classwork.
