Sports results:

U13 Boys Midlands Hockey Championships on Tuesday 28th March 2017

Our U13 boys hockey team travelled to Cannock this week to play in the Midlands U13 Schools Hockey Championships. They had to play against teams from independent schools from across the

Midlands region – from Leicestershire, Warwickshire, Shropshire, Northamptonshire, Worcestershire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

After playing some extremely tough games against some very good players, our boys finished with 1 win, 2 draws and 2 defeats.  Our most notable game was against the eventual winners of the competition, an exceptional team from Princethorpe School, Warwickshire. They had beaten all the other teams in our section by at least 4-0 but they only managed to put one goal past Tom Willshaw, as our boys defended valiantly to hold them to one.

The boys have played some tremendous hockey throughout their time at St. Edward’s and we wish them all  great success for the future and hope that they continue playing hockey at Leek Hockey Club, and hopefully come back on  Thursday nights next year to help out with coaching.

Y5 & Y6 Girls Satellite Netball League on Wednesday 29th March 2017

The Y5 and Y6 netball teams went to James Bateman this week to play in their second netball matches of the season. They had to play games against Woodhouse and James Bateman.

Out of 8 games our Y6 girls won 3, drew 2 and lost 3. Our Y5 girls won 2 games, drew 2 and lost 4.

This week’s results were not quite as good as last week’s but the girls are gaining valuable experience in playing competitive matches.

Next week the other schools are coming to St. Edward’s to take part in the final matches of the season in the District Tournament.

Well done to all the girls from Y5 and Y6 who played in these matches this week and good luck in the tournament next week.
